About Microgreens
How fresh are the microgreens when they arrive?
Everything is harvested on the morning of your delivery day — Tuesday or Friday, or both. We don't cut in advance and store, so what arrives at your door is as fresh as it gets.
How long do microgreens last?
Harvested punnets will keep for one to two weeks stored properly. Live trays last considerably longer, typically two to four weeks, and will continue to grow slowly in the meantime.
How should I store my microgreens?
Harvested punnets are best kept in a sealed container in the fridge. Live trays prefer a light, dry spot — a windowsill or kitchen bench works well. They don't need much attention beyond the occasional top-up of the water reservoir.
How can I use Microgreens?
Microgreens are one of the easiest ways to add freshness, flavour and nutrition to everyday meals. They can be used as a garnish, mixed into salads, layered into sandwiches or wraps, blended into smoothies, or sprinkled over finished dishes.
They work well on eggs, soups, pasta, grain bowls, tacos and even pizzas. For best results, add them just before serving to preserve their flavour, texture and nutrients.
Is your packaging recyclable?
We've tried to keep our packaging as responsible as possible. Punnet bases are made from Bioboard — a plant-based material that breaks down over time. Punnet lids are made from RPET recycled plastic, which is recyclable in most kerbside collections. Live trays are reusable, we collect and swap them out when you're done, and then wash and sanitise them so they are ready to be used again.
What size are the punnets?
Our microgreens come in two punnet sizes: small and large. Because microgreens are very light—and some varieties are naturally lighter or fluffier than others—the weight can vary between products. For that reason, we use consistent punnet sizes rather than standardised weights.
Small punnets are approx. 17cm long × 12cm wide × 5cm high.
Large punnets are approx. 17cm long × 12cm wide × 8cm high.
Large punnets hold twice the volume of small punnets.
Delivery and Availability
Do you always have enough available?
We generally grow a little extra to cover most orders, but as a grow-to-order operation there are occasions when a new or changed order may need to wait a little longer for crops to be ready. If that happens we'll get in touch to let you know and suggest a suitable substitute in the meantime.
Do you deliver to my area?
Home delivery currently covers selected suburbs across Wellington, Petone and Lower Hutt. Check the delivery map to confirm we cover your area before placing an order.
Are microgreens available all year round?
Yes. We grow indoors, which means we're not subject to seasonal limitations or weather disruptions. Whatever we list in the shop is available year round.
Can I get delivery twice a week?
Yes, absolutely. If you’d like deliveries twice a week, simply create two separate subscriptions and select your preferred delivery day for each one. ie one for Tuesday delivery and another for Friday delivery.
Certification
Are your microgreens organic?
We're not certified organic, but we grow without the use of harmful pesticides, herbicides or fungicides. We take the quality and safety of what we grow seriously, and we wouldn't put anything on our trays that we wouldn't want on our own plate
Are you food safety certified?
Yes. Little Green Garage is registered with Wellington City Council and holds National Programme One certification, which covers the growing and supply of low-risk food products.
Ordering and Payment
When am I charged?
Payment is authorised on creation of the subscription, and taken by credit card on the day of each delivery.
How do I change my order?
Changing your order is easy. You can edit, pause or cancel your subscription at any time through your customer portal.
Simply click the account icon in the top right of the page and enter the email address you used when signing up. From there, you can manage your subscription and upcoming deliveries whenever you need.
How late can I make changes to my order?
You can make changes to your subscription up until the day before delivery. For example if your regular delivery day is Tuesday you can make changes up until the end of Sunday.
Can I order as a one-off rather than a subscription?
Because we grow to order, regular subscriptions help us manage what we plant and when, so we don't offer one-off orders. That said, we try to be as flexible as possible. You're free to pause, adjust or cancel your subscription any time, so there's no pressure of long term commitment.
